Keeping a website up-to-date on a limited budget

Rather than building an in-house tech function, the Hasard Ludique relies on JiNi as an ongoing external partner to maintain and improve its website over time.

Background

Le Hasard Ludique hosts concerts, performances and community events throughout the year. Their website is the main place where visitors can discover upcoming events, find practical information and book tickets. It had been built more than 10 years ago using Ruby on Rails. Without an internal tech team with expertise in this language, the organisation needed a reliable external partner who could take responsibility for the platform's ongoing technical care.

What we did

We took over the ongoing maintenance and technical support of the site.

We've maintained the code, fixed bugs, and made occasional improvements such as updating pages or adjusting the website's structure.

One of the key improvements we introduced was a staging environment, allowing changes to be tested before being deployed to the live site. This reduced the risk of issues in production and created a clearer workflow for updates.

Beyond development work, we also supported the team on various technical questions when issues appeared, from hosting concerns to email delivery problems.

Results & reflections

Rather than rebuilding the website entirely, the organisation has been able to maintain and gradually improve the existing website which continues to run reliably, without needing an expensive internal tech team.
